Finance Manager (Charities)

Why this role exists?

To oversee the delivery of timely and accurate monthly management information to relevant internal and external stakeholders. To ensure yourself and your team maintain and develop strong relationships with the Finance Team, Customers, and the wider Group Business Services Teams. Along with having strong relationships with the Finance Management Team you will act within the wider Group Management team to promote and influence the strategic direction of the Group. You and your team will provide an efficient and effective accountancy service for The Calico Group.

To promote the use of efficient systems and develop new ways of working to support the wider group. Be part of the Syncora (charities) Operations teams key decision-making process and influence future planning and business direction.

The Salary

£53,000 to £57,000

How this role will deliver success

Activities you will carry out within this role

Produce and distribute a monthly set of accounts including an Operational finance report which includes input from, various parts of Operations, Assistant Accountants and Corporate Finance. Creating a budget and reviewing monthly performance with operations including updating forecasts. Review and prepare balance sheet reconciliations and work with the Assistant Accountants to update schedules and develop month end reporting information. Manage and support your team including holding 1-1 review meetings with Assistant Accountants and contribute to their professional and personal development.

What you need to be successful in this role

Knowledge

• Understanding of relevant IT and Financial systems
• Understanding of Operational performance and how you can influence performance and behaviour
• Working knowledge of transactional accounting and complex accounting concepts
• Understand and have knowledge of the process in the production of statutory accounts (desirable)

 

Skills

  • Ability to organise and prioritise work to meet conflicting deadlines and delegate effectively
  • An ability to analyse and explain complex financial information in a clear way at all levels both in report format, presentations and verbally
  • Ability to contribute to the development of budgets, forecasts and strategy
  • The ability to use IT in a financial environment, in particular, Word, PowerPoint and the ability to use and develop Excel spreadsheets
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, at all levels.

Qualifications

  • Professional Accountancy Qualification and evidence of Continued Professional Development


Experience

  • Substantial accountancy experience within a similar environment including the production of Management Accounts
  • Experience of working with Operational teams to develop financial information
  • Experience of budget setting and the development of detailed financial forecasts
  • Team management and motivation to deliver high levels of staff engagement
  • A good understanding of Financial Accounts
